Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly known as Section 8)

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, formerly known as Section 8, provides rental assistance to low-income families in the private rental market. This program allows participants to choose housing that meets the program’s requirements, not limited to subsidized housing projects. The HCV program is administered by the Hawaii Public Housing Authority and is currently available only on the island of Oahu. This flexibility gives families more options for affordable housing.
